Kevin Clarkson

Kevin Clarkson began his artistic journey with an MA in Graphic Design before transitioning into fine art in 2010. Since then, he has built a distinguished career as a marine and landscape painter, working predominantly in acrylics and oils.

Kevin is the current Chairman of the Thames Maritime Artists and has previously served as Chairman of the Old Royal Naval College Art Club in Greenwich and the National Maritime Museum Art Club (2012–2014). His leadership within the art community reflects his dedication to promoting and preserving marine and historical art.

An award-winning artist, Kevin was the winner of the "Classic Boat Prize" at the Royal Society of Marine Artists Exhibition 2020 at the Mall Galleries, London, and the "Winners" Exhibition of the Federation of British Artists, also at the Mall Galleries, in 2022.

Kevin's work has been widely exhibited and is part of permanent collections at the Guildhall Museum, Eastgate House in Rochester, and Upnor Castle in Kent. His notable commissions include a series of historical marine pieces for these venues and other marine-themed projects. His paintings also grace private collections across the UK, Canada, France, New Zealand, New York, and the Channel Islands.

In addition to creating evocative works inspired by nature and history—particularly where the sea, land, and sky converge—Kevin shares his expertise through painting demonstrations in acrylics and watercolours for art clubs. He also accepts private commissions and contributes to art publications.

Kevin has been recognised as the Online Gallery ‘Artist of the Month’ in The Artist Magazine and has written articles for Painters Online and the National Maritime Museum. His work has also been featured in the Painters Onlinenewsletter, hosted by The Artist and Leisure Painter periodicals.

Through his art, Kevin Clarkson brings the beauty of history and nature to life, offering a unique and compelling perspective on the world around us.
