Sarah Ollerenshaw is an accomplished artist with a background in fine art restoration. Her artistic journey began with a degree in Spanish and History of Art from Birmingham University, followed by a postgraduate diploma at Christie's, leading to an apprenticeship in restoration and conservation. Throughout her career, she has maintained a deep passion for painting, culminating in her current role as a full-time artist and mother.
In Footsteps in Bloom, Sarah invites you to immerse yourself in enchanting forestscapes inspired by her walks with loved ones. Her work is a celebration of English woodlands, with a particular focus on the Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park and the bluebell woods of Cliveden.
Sarah’s paintings aim to evoke the nostalgic wonder of childhood, capturing the magic of first encounters with nature. Her work also seeks to recall the shared memories of long walks with loved ones. With a spiritual element reflected in her titles, Sarah’s paintings remind us that the joy of nature is sparked in childhood, but our connection to it is lifelong, woven through moments with those we hold dear, both past and present.
Utilising bold, painterly marks and a range of palette knives, Sarah creates artworks that are rich in complexity. The layering of paint reveals the depth of her technique, while the interplay between abstraction and photographic realism creates a dynamic tension. Her joyful compositions resonate with a colourful rhythmic balance, showcasing her artistic integrity.
